About Big John’s Mobility Express

Big John's Mobility Express is a locally owned and operated mobility transport service based in Dunedin, established in 2020 and run by John and Michelle Gonsalves. What started as one van has grown to a fleet of six vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible caddies and taxis.

The service specialises in wheelchair and flotation chair transport, both around Dunedin and on longer trips extending to Central Otago, Balclutha, Invercargill, and as far as Christchurch. Hospital and hospice transfers, airport transfers, and tours for rest-home residents are all part of the service.

Big John's is accredited with the Total Mobility scheme and is ACC accredited, meaning eligible clients can access discounted rates. The team operates seven days a week, including evenings, and is known locally for keeping pricing straightforward with no EFTPOS fees.
